Software Side Roads

Scenic Detours Along the Way to Release

About

Nathan Bossett is a software designer and developer with a background in engineering and finance. His engineering background focused on ship stability and related issues such as safety, container stowage, and oil outflow. His financial background includes several audit and corporate officer positions as well as development of software focusing on tax issues for large international companies. His work history includes Herbert-ABS Software, Workday, and RidePal.

His primary recreation is sailing, but he also finds time for cooking and pool amongst other pursuits.

This blog came about as a means of recording and possibly helping others with incidental technical tasks for similarly placed people:
one can’t be an expert in everything and sometimes a good code snippet or pointer can save a lot of time and mistakes. The exercise of formalizing my thoughts and processes pushes me a little further toward quality, as well.

Contact and background information is available at the rather antiquated business card website, https://pierb.com.

About Me

The focus of my work is writing software tools in support of engineering and financial analysis plus taking care of the source and results data for quality and documentation purposes. Most of my professional time has been spent in the engineering, particularly naval architecture, and finance sectors. Many side tasks which aren’t strictly central to my deliverables crop up and must be dealt with. These posts are notes on the little side tours and cul-de-sacs along the way.
